Concert #3
Shows Continued Tight-knit Concentration
May 16, 2012
The combination of medieval and space has been such a unique
phenomenon in this plan. But what is going overlooked is how closely it
does pay homage to June 2009 and June 2010. I really am in those
mindsets right now. The music and inspirations of those time periods and
jamborees are very much at the heart of the influence of this plan right
now, and really always have been. Yes there has been new songs and new
artists. Yes there has been a very significant medieval twist. Yes the
times have changed and its 2012 and not 2010 or 2009. But I really am
not doing much different than those years and those jamborees. Maybe its
the fact that concerts are so late now in their careers. OSI,
Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Genesis,
Camel....these are very important bands to jamborees, and they have
been played again in this jamboree, and with prestige. Maybe the new
sounds of Ambrosia and RPWL make everything sound
different. The fact is, I am having a lot of fun engineering each show,
performing each song, being one with the music. I am not extremely
animated during these concerts, but its because I am more deeply
concentrated in such timeless sound, such important moments these songs
create. Jamborees to me are time capsules, they are a chance to bring
concerts higher into a world of imagination and passion and magic. And
that is what this plan's music does to me. Nobody knows where concerts
are heading. Nobody knows what this jamboree will be once it is over.
Nobody knows what will happen next in the concert world. But it is
important to stay within ourselves, stay within this plan, stay within
its importance and legacy in basement concerts. I will stay concentrated
on this plan. I will continue to perform the timeless music of jamborees
past, and jamborees present.
The Follow-up
Deepens The Adventure
May 8, 2012
I like how jamboree periods make me delve deeper into more creative
music, music that isn't as obvious or known. It is these times in
concert history that I explore in the prog/art-rock genre of music. This
music to me is wondrous and offers a lot in terms of depth and color,
and imagination. And jamborees to me are musical imagination and
exploratory. Tonight, it was more of a re-introduction to spacey,
psychedelic prog-rock. Pink Floyd, a band I find
mysterious and fascinating, offered "See Saw", a summer journey of a
song, a song with hippie implications and hazy imagery. Genesis
continued with their second song of the Jamboree IV: "In To
Deep", a passionate slow love song that has a summertime bridge on the
keys. I also continue to be impressed with RPWL, the German neo-prog
band. OSI and Nektar, two bands from June 2009 also made
returns. Overall, I felt tonight was akin to the debut in sound and in
preparation and performance. It has been a great joy designing and
preparing for each concert and playlist. I think tonight really
increased the interest level even more for the next one. I am fully back
into the prog/art rock side of music once again.

Welcome to May 2012!
Debut Night
Paints A Wondrous Adventure
May 2, 2012
It is important to know that the music of this plan (progressive and
psychedelic music) does not make me sad, or depressed.
Quite the contrary, these kinds of music makes me think, and places me
into a really creative frame of mind, a wondrous picture, a summer
world. And that's the kind of imagery that was painted this evening, in
this glorious Debut. I was proud of what occurred down there, and was
left with a very satisfied feeling, a fulfilled feeling. I was left
wanting more, and wanting to design the next playlist. The follow-up
will be almost more important than the Debut. My favorite songs from
this Debut were "City Life" by Camel, "3 Lights" and "Side By
Side" by RPWL, and "Lavender" by Marillion. I think
RPWL can be a real staple of this plan, as can the classic June
artists of Camel and Gentle Giant. Big
Big Train offers some depth and color of overseas progressive
rock. I can really say that this plan is already well underway in the
best of ways.
